Extra Info: Fantastic Album !! KILLER JAZZ FUNK album .. Original US press on Prestige ...EX TOP audio

Many believe Gene Ammons had only one funky release, but this album is much better than his Black Cat LP, also on Prestige, released the year before. This album was arranged and conducted by Bobby Bryant and features his love for large bands. Crazy Mary is a nice upbeat soul-jazz number with a fast paced beginning before it smooths down for Ammons to solo away on his sax. Jaggin on the second side comes with the funk, mostly provided by some wah wah guitar by Arthur Adams and the bass playing of Chuck Rainey. The song shows Bobby Bryant’s liking of blaxploitation soundtrack type songs in the early 1970s.
